This web site was put together with help from retired Manitoba Hydro executives, a former Dean and professors in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba, former employees of the government of Manitoba, officers of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation and many other concerned Manitobans.
Our common concern is the high level of risk associated with Manitoba Hydro’s risky spending proposal and how it could lead to skyrocketing hydro bills if the plan doesn’t pan out.
At $34 billion, Hydro’s plan is the most expensive proposal in the history of Manitoba; it’s even larger than Manitoba’s entire provincial debt. And it is almost three times the provincial government’s annual budget. Thus, it’s crucial for the plan to not be rushed, but studied in a truly non-partisan, unbiased and comprehensive manner.
